Assignment 1.2: Information Detection
The purpose of this second assignment is to distinguish different research methods and to practice selecting appropriate methods for your own research questions.
- Go back to Country Context Analysis template (PDF, DOCX) where you have added your additional research questions. In this assignment you will indicate the relevant b) secondary data sources and c) research methods to find out the answers to these research questions.
What are the possible sources for your desk research? Can you use existing information (secondary data) from studies that have been conducted and reported already?
- If yes, indicate the name of the resource and add the link in your template
- If no, do a quick mini online desk research to identify additional relevant sources that can give more insights into latest trends or developments and list them in the template
What research methods do you consider most useful to find answers to your research questions? Add the method in the relevant column
- Do you need qualitative in-depth insights? If yes, choose online content analysis (social listening), focus groups or interviews.
- Do you need to get more broad quantitative information? If yes, choose a survey or quick poll.
Select the methods based on the insights they allow to find answers and not based on your personal experience or preference.
