About This Training
Effective storytelling involves a deep understanding of human emotions, motivations, and psychology in order to truly move an audience. Combining the fundamental building blocks of RNW Media’s approach, this training will give you the techniques needed to move you from good storytelling to great storytelling.
Although the topics we do advocacy around relate to salient matters, we find that for many, advocacy asks remain difficult to relate to. A powerful story can help immerse someone into another person’s reality and it can bring light to voices, issues and perspectives that are often hidden from view. Storytelling can help legitimize a cause and play a role in accountability – disseminating stories based on people’s realities can help augment their space in civil society.
Nevertheless, not all stories are created equal. Information is quickly forgotten if it isn’t presented in a way your audience can remember it. This 5-day combination of sessions will give you the skills to create strong narratives, find the right media formats to convey them, and capture your audiences. This training provides you with the necessary tools and knowledge to craft the kind of stories that make an impact.
