Welcome to the 10th module on your journey to building digital communities for social change: refer young people to services.

Purpose

Through our platforms young people access relevant information, discuss topics that matter to them and share diverse opinions and aspirations. Through their engagement on your digital platforms, needs or issues of young people might surface, that cannot be addressed by your organisation. In these cases, where you need specialised knowledge or expertise, you can refer young people to external services or resources.

In this module we will guide you through the process of identifying the needs of young people, that require referral to services providers. In addition, we will provide guidelines on how you can identify a network of reliable services and how you can ensure an effective collaboration with these service providers. Throughout the module, examples are given on how RNW Media has established partnerships with various service providers and how young people are referred to these partners to facilitate access to relevant services.

Learning Goals

After completing this module, you will be able to:

  • Assess the need for referral services
  • Identify and assess a network of reliable service providers
  • Distinguish different methods of referring to services
