This assignment can help you reflect on the need of moderation guidelines for your organization. How can you make sure you align with your team on how to implement community moderation? For this assignment you will start developing your own organisation’s moderation guidelines, preferably with a team of colleagues. This can be done starting from existing guidelines and adapting them to your country context, or by drafting new guidelines if you do not have them in place. When starting with the development of the guidelines, take the following into consideration.
Do you have a moderation strategy in place? (Reflect on the following questions with your team)
If yes,
- Do you use and update it on a regular basis, based on your experience and results you achieving with your moderation? Is the moderation strategy communicated to all team members involved in moderation?
- Are your objectives for moderation clear? Are they aligned with the CV moderation objectives?
If no,
- What is your main objective of your moderation? How is this aligned with the overall objective of your organisation?
- What is your experience with moderation that can be taken into account?
- Who needs to be involved in the development of the guidelines?
Creating your own country team guidelines
Even if you do not have existing moderation guidelines in place, you can start developing these based on the example of the CV Guidelines.
- Review: the existing CV Moderation guidelines or other guidelines relevant to your organisation
- Keep: what guidelines do you find relevant for your context? Do these guidelines apply in your specific context and do they fit with your organisation’s objective?
- Adapt or remove: Are there elements of the moderation strategy that are not relevant for your context? If so, why not? Can these be adapted or should they be removed?
- Create: Are there guidelines are missing? Which guidelines should be created and why are those guidelines relevant in your context? How do these contribute to achieving your objectives?
