Advocacy Campaign message  
Domestic violence against women must be stopped. In our country a woman is physically abused every eight seconds and one is raped every six minutes.
One such woman is Maria who became involved with an abusive partner and ended up losing her job because of tardiness. Her children have been disciplined at school for aggression and misbehaviour. Maria is now being supported by our network but there are millions of women who need help.  
The State needs to take action by passing a law against domestic violence with strict punishments for perpetrators.
Therefore, we call on the Women’s Development Department to draft a Bill on Domestic Violence and initiate the process of legislative change.
